Another "flying carp" video

I suppose if you've seen one of these videos, you've seen them all.  But if you haven't seen one, try this one (or the two I posted in 2009).  These guys know enough to travel slowly in order to prevent personal injury; ou can see why serious fishermen and boaters dread these creatures spreading into additional rivers and lakes.

  1. That's some easy fishing! Guys could use some helmets and pads...

  2. Wow. Are they of any use as food (or fertilizer)? Your previous entry on gazelle slaughter structures makes me wonder if gill nets strung above the surface would be useful here. They'd certainly have the advantage of not catching any other fish species by accident!

  3. Why do they jump? Usually fish leap to escape predators. These seem to be at the top of the food chain.

  4. I suppose they view the noise of the outboard motor as an indicator of someone higher on the food chain.

  5. Do they just beat themselves bloody? The first fish in the boat looked like it was bleeding out of the gills immediately.

  6. Holy freaking mackerel! (no pun intended...)

Those fish are dangerous! What? Were they 4-pounders? More?

Geez! You learn something new, every day.
