Mushrooms

Photo sent to me by a reader of this blog, who found them behind a barn in Massachusetts and doesn't know what type they are.  They don't look like the magic mushrooms we used to find in Texas when I lived there.  Perhaps some reader will know what they are.  One click makes them bigger...

  1. They look a lot like Enoki Mushrooms, but I'm no expert.

    Here are some Enoki pics.

  4. They do look like mushrooms in the genus Flammulina (enoki, like the first poster mentioned). If it is Flammulina it is probably F. velutipes (the only flammulina that would occur in Mass.).

Mushrooms, especially the generic looking ones, can be quite difficult to ID from a pic. Flammulina fruit from fall to spring so if that pic was taken recently it is probably something else.
