Canada's marijuana industry

The BBC doesn't allow embedding of their videos, so if you want to see this 2-minute news video, you can do so at this link. It's a real eye-opener.

  1. True, some parts of Canada, and Quebec, are real canabis farms. People either grow it outdoor, in the middle of normal fields, or in houses specially rented for the single growing pot use. People are very tolerant here. I assume it's due to the long winters ;). Anyhow, true, you would not be arrested here, if found with a few grams of pot in your pockets. The police is highly tolerant with consumers, but really strict when it comes to dealers.

  2. Maybe the police is being a bit too tolerant. It just makes them look bad. What will be next? Not caring if people start killing each other? Either do something about it or legalize it and educate people about the risks of marijuana...problem solved. This just makes the Canadian police look like a bunch of lazy cops eating donuts 24/7...

    Take care, Julie

  3. How someone equate killing with smoking a NATURALLY occurring plant that makes people relaxed, content and friendly? How many people have been killed or raped by someone high on MJ? MJ should be treated like alcohol. Here in NYC more people than you think smoke MJ from ALL walks of life. It's not a crime

  4. You see here's the problem. There are no "risks of marijuana" to educate people about. Marijuana is so safe it doesn't even need any regulation. None whatsoever.

  5. It isn't lax cannabis laws in CA that enables Organized Crime to profit by trafficking this into the US, it is the USA's failure of a drug policy that creates a high profit margin for anyone that is motivated enough.

Legalize it and put it in the same tax structure as alcohol and tobacco, restrict access to the under 21 crowd, and people will purchase legal cannabis and generate tax revenue. Problem solved!

  6. I forgot to add that 99% of the people I know, would be happy to purchase cannabis from a legal vendor rather than from the black market.

The same thing worked during alcohol prohibition. You don't see rival alcohol distributors having firefights in the streets, do you?

  7. There's going to be a lot of opposition to legalizing MJ in the US, and much of that opposition will be covertly supported by those who benefit from its prohibition - the Mexican druglords, the traffikers, and the street sellers. They don't want it legalized, and they will donate big $$$ to the community and church groups that fight legalization.
