The "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch

John Cleese and Graham Chapman (before their Monty Python fame), plus Tim Brooke-Taylor and Marty Feldman lampooning the stereotypical "rich people claiming they were happier when they were poor."

Found at a nerve.com listing of the fifty greatest comedy sketches - which I'm still exploring....

Addendum: I posted this in TYWKIWDBI last April 10, when no one was visiting the blog. In view of the current economic situation, this skit is funny enough that it's worth bringing up to the front page.

Second addendum: The original video from 40 years ago has been deleted from YouTube. The one above is a tribute performed by Pythons.

  1. Thanks for sharing this skit and the site. So funny...so true.

  2. Monty Python revisited this sketch in their film, "Live at the Hollywood Bowl". They had it down pretty good by then. Although it was almost identical to this one, there were a few changes.

  3. Great sketch, but not Cleese, Brooke-Taylor or Marty Feldman!
Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Graham Chapman and Terry Jones !
